sc phase is a minimalist computer-music composition created entirely in supercollider, built around an extended multi-voice canon and systems of controlled repetition.
drawing on materials derived from bach’s fugues, gong translates notated melodic contours into envelopes and wavetable structures, using them as the basis for a synthesis framework. short motifs are distributed across multiple voices and subjected to shifting processes of repetition, permutation, and gradual transformation, allowing form to emerge through phase relationships and temporal layering.
this composition has received international recognition, including an absolute first prize at the bach international music competition.
